In September of 2023, The Garden of Dreams Foundation unveiled the revitalized basketball court at partner organization The Children’s Village’s main campus that was refurbished in partnership with the New York Knicks, the NBA, and Squarespace. These partners all came together for this Legacy Project Court refurbishment to use the power of basketball to create a lasting positive impact at The Children’s Village.
The court’s colorful design was created by Squarespace artist Eric Friedensohn, known as “Efdot”, and represented the partners’ vision of building bridges and bringing people together through basketball. The court is used by hundreds of young people annually who reside on The Children’s Village campus.
The Ribbon-Cutting celebration featured remarks by Knicks Legend John Starks, New York State Senator and Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, MSG Networks Host Monica McNutt, executives from MSG, Garden of Dreams, and The Children’s Village, and the celebration was MCed by Jason Negron. Ninety young people in attendance enjoyed several activities, including a Jr. Knicks clinic and workshop with the Knicks City Dancers.
This investment in the court will provide joy for these young people for years to come.
